Used Autos Services
Used autos auctions can last 3, 5, 7 or 10 days.
Bidding automatically ends when the auction does. The high bidder and
seller should contact each other within 3 business days of the end of
the used autos auction. It's a good idea to check your email or phone
regularly after the auction. If you're the high bidder, and the seller
can't reach you within this time, he or she may contact the next-highest
bidder and sell the item to that person.
Contact the seller
You will receive an email notice at the end of the
used autos auction if you are the high bidder. This email contains the final price
of the item (not including any shipping charges) and contact information
for the winning seller. You should try to contact the seller within
3 days. Just click on the "Ask seller a question" link on
the item page to create an email.
How do you pay?
Buyers pay the seller the final price of the used autos auction,
along with other specified payment terms (such as shipping). You do
not pay eBay.
Payment
Some sellers require a small deposit from the high
bidder soon after the close of the used autos auction. Check the item description
for payment terms. Most sellers will expect payment in full before they
will sign over the title. Be prepared to pay the seller by the method
they have specified. If you are not sure, contact the seller.
If there is a lien on the vehicle or you will be
using a loan to pay, the finance companies involved may have special
requirements. Ask your finance company about these details, and check
with the seller about theirs.
You can avoid the hassle and inconvenience of title
transfer and vehicle registration by using escrow services.
Title Transfer and Vehicle Registration
When you pay in full for the vehicle, the seller
should sign the vehicle title over to you. The vehicle title is the
official document of ownership. This process varies from state to state.
Or you can contact the Motor Vehicle department
in your state for instructions for the private sale of vehicles, including
the process for title transfer and taxes.
Leaving feedback
Leaving feedback for the seller after the transaction
is an important way to help other community members learn about the
seller. If you have had a good experience, or a bad one, take a minute
to leave your comment. The easiest way to leave feedback for a seller
is to go to the item page for the ended used autos auction and click on the leave
feedback link.
So you decided to buy a car and went on on-line
used autos auctions, for example eBay Motors. With a variety of items listed
for sale on eBay you will most likely find something suitable. Maybe
you will see a picture with the car of your dream (or at least maybe
it is the dream of your wallet :). But something keeps worrying you
- is it as well technically as it is visually, or even is it actually
the picture of the car being sold? What is the technical condition of
this vehicle?
Auto technical condition
So, what would you do without various services available on eBay Motors
used autos auctions? Trust your luck? This is not the way to go in my opinion.
There are several services there, which can deliver you complete information
about auto you choose. When putting up a used auto for sale, a seller
often uses a special service, performing comprehensive car inspection
for mechanical condition and cosmetic appearance. Inspection Report
includes up to 135 points, they will study all the guts of the car to
make buyer confident in what they buy. And for your convenience those
cars, which passed the inspection, are distinguished from the list with
a special icon.
On the other hand if nothing with the icon appeals you, you may want
to know better about the history of the car you plan to buy. Millions
of used car may have billions of hidden problems. You may be interested
in the matters like salvage history, odometer fraud, multiple owners,
flood damage, major accident damage, fire damage - It isn't free but
it may very well save you more money. This lemon check can be performed
at your desire. eBay Motors doesn't directly guarantee the reliability
of those services information, but, nevertheless, my experience says
that some information is usually better than no information.
Listing Services
To make it easier for a seller to place an auto for sale there are
listing services on eBay Motors used autos auctions. They do not directly
involve you if you're a buyer but I think it's useful to give a clue
about them anyway. If you're actually a buyer just pretend you're a
seller for this paragraph :). It works the following way: you fill the
registration form, where you provide detailed information about the
car you wish to sell. After that, service experts can ask you additional
questions via email or phone. Also you need to send one or several photos
of your car via email. Then the service will help you to determine optimal
price of your auto. The best part of it is the fact that the service
takes all the responsibility for placing your car on Ebay Motors used autos auctions, and moreover at another specific showrooms to increase the
probability of finding a buyer. Now turn back into buyer as I will give
you a practical advice: if you have a choice - choose a car which went
through listing service because it indicates that seller really takes
care about his deal and usually means more reliable deal.
Escrow services
You make a bid, and if you're lucky or stubborn enough you win the
used autos auction. But for the car to become all yours you need at least transfer
money to a seller. Otherwise - no sale (actually, there will be a sale,
and most likely to the next highest bidder after you, who was wiser
to think about payment in advance). To make money matters easier and
both sides less nervous about the result, there're on-line payments
systems and escrow services. It is your guarantee to receive a car you
paid for and seller's guarantee that he will get his money (I'm not
talking about you personally but there're a lot of frauds surfing the
net).
Here's where escrow services come into action. After you have won the
used autos auction, you pay to the escrow service. They will notify
a seller about the fact of your payment and then a seller sends you
a car. Car receipt is controlled by the escrow as well. You have several
days to test your newly bought auto. If it doesn't comply to the description
claimed during sale, and you are lucky enough to discover it in time
you can cancel the deal. Only after your acceptance, which you make
public for the escrow service, money is sent to a seller.
